PS. Cine ma ajuta sa traduc si sa public cartea "Paradis cu inlocuitori" (Editura "Viata si Sanatate" Buc.1999), in limba engleza? Macar asa sa vada si americanii ca, fara falsa modestie, romanii au ce spune in domeniul cultural, ba si teologic, sine ira et studio.

Sunt stabilit de 10 ani în Finlanda cu familia. Situatia românilor care locuiesc aici este foarte dificilă. I feel always good when my fellow Romanians are coming out from the anonymity and they stand for what they believe, speaking out with love and justice. I think, and this is my opinion, that, it is nothing more important for us as people of this new millennium then, to identify with the needs of our neighbors and the will of God. As a person of the Bible, how I think of myself to be, I find all sources speaking of the Bible as an excellent information tool. We are living in a special time when people are coming to or departing from the one truth, which reveals the light over the world. As Philip Yancey, in "The Bible Jesus Read" says: The Bible "... portrays the world as it is, no holds barred. In its pages you will find passionate stories of love and hate, blood-chilling stories of rape and dismemberment, matter-of-fact accounts of trafficking in slaves, honest tales of the high honor and cruel treachery of war. Nothing is neat and orderly ... As you encounter these disturbances, you may recoil against them or turn away from a God who had any part in them. The wonderful quality ... " of the Bible "... is that it contains those very responses as well! God anticipates our objections and includes them in the sacred writing. " Kathleen Norris gives a healthy perspective on this issue in her book 'Amazing Grace:' "Many people these days feel an absence in their lives, expressed as an acute desire for "something more," a spiritual home, a community of faith. But when they try to read the Bible they end up throwing it across the room. To me, this seems encouraging, a good place to start, a sign of real engagement with the God who is revealed in Scripture. Others find it easy to dismiss the Bible out of hand, as negative, vengeful, violent. I can only hope that they are rejecting the violence-as-entertainment of movies and television on the same grounds, and that they say a prayer every time they pick up a daily newspaper or turn on CNN. In the context of real life, the Bible seems refreshingly whole, an honest reflection on humanity in relation to the sacred and the profane. I can't learn enough about it, but I also have to trust what little I know, and proceed, in faith, to seek God there." Thank you for publishing the first ever Romanian -American Yellow Pages. How come I didn't think of that? It is a great resourse and one that we can build upon in the future by continuing to improve it. Thanks for bringing the hard copies to our church a few weeks ago. Do you know where I can get subscriptions to Romanian cooking/household magazines? Is there a way to suibscribe to magazines such as "Ioana" and "Gospodina" and "Claudia" but I haven't been successful yet at being able to subscribe to a magazine that is published in Romania. Any suggestions? HAs anyone from our church given you their business cards yet? If not, I can colllect them and send them to you so that our "professionals/trade people" can be included in next year's edition. Anyway, GOOD JOB!

What a great project the Romanian-American Yellow Pages turned out to be! Perhaps less known, but of great interest, is that the book contains several articles on Romanian history and culture. Middle and high school students will discover the book to be a greater source of information than a typical encyclopedia entry.
