When we think of 20th century painters names like Henri Matisse or Pablo Picasso or even Georges Braque are usually what come to mind but there was another man named Corneliu Baba who made quite an impression on the art community during the 20th century and he did this by incorporating the style of the Old Masters. Corneliu Baba, a man very much ahead of his time who might have found himself at home in our abstract and impressionist interpretation of the arts, used a style that harkened back to the Golden Age of painting, the early 19th century and the time of the Old Masters.

Rather an unpopular idea at the time, he assimilated all of the impressionistic and expressionistic aspects of the old greats and created dazzling tableaux of expressive displays that were more meant to be experienced than simply seen. His art was the kind that could literally transport you from where you were standing into a realm of contemplation, and the same holds true even today. You could be in deep thought about a Family Issue, Car Payments, Debt Settlement, Housing Mortgages or any other big name fear and anxiety that bombards our daily lives but the minute you saw one of his works, you were enthralled. They were brilliant and, most importantly, meditative.

The lifestyle simplicity of the Romanian culture can be viewed by looking at their traditional and modern cuisine. In Western society, our protein staple is based on the meat of chicken and beef. In Romania, pork is the king of meats.
Pork is not just served every day in a standard roast, however. The Romanian land has a history of being occupied by Turks, Hungarians, Austrians, Poles, and Russians. As you can imagine, the broad cultural influence does wonders for the cuisine and for the palate!

Back to the root of the culture, and the food: simplicity. The cooking takes place in rustic oven ware, such as clay pots and cast iron pots and pans. This cookware not only enriches the mineral content of food, but it gives it a unique flavor. The staples of the people are pork, vegetables, and beans. These staples all remain pure from genetic modification, making the harvesting and growing less productive at times, but it keeps the food tasting simple, the culture hard working, and the land and people healthy and strong.

If you are visiting Romania, many homes make an attempt to serve their guests modern cuisine. In the best interest of your body and palate, ask for traditional fare to be served!

Many people forget that Transylvania and medieval times are not fiction. Traveling to Transylvanian cities to tour the gothic castles and cathedrals is entirely worth your time. It will be a trip you will remember for a lifetime. Forget about the European cities that look just like the next and drive into the 14th Century Transylvania for an exciting adventure.

These castles are unique to all the castles in Europe. The most well-known, Bran Castle, is considered Dracula-s Castle. The architecture and surrounding forest will keep your frame of mind in another time. The feeling that looms in the air, combined with the blanket of the forest and powerful gothic architecture, will leave you with a sense that something very ominous occurred in those parts centuries ago.

Several guided tours are available in the area. You could spend a week traveling around to various cities, walking through villages, and seeing castles. Some castles will even allow you to stay on site. These are not for monetarily constrained travelers, of course. If you have always been fascinated by this time period and the legends, you will not be disappointed. If you have never really thought about Transylvania much, you will be pleasantly surprised.

One of the most visited sites in Romania is Dracula-s Castle. From the famous story written in 1897, Bram Stokers story of Dracula was born. So many people still wonder, if there really was a vampire in the famous Transylvania. Perhaps this story has sparked some modern day vampire-s stories. Though this castle still attracts tourists from all over the world, it is not the only site to see in Romania.

When visiting Romania, one can take a boat ride on the River Danube. Floating in the Black Sea is another way to spend the day. Romania is a country that is stepped in history and full of mythical places. Tulcea is one great city, which attracts many people for a boat ride and some nature sites.

The food in Romania is rich and will tempt any pallet. Try unique dishes like lamb sour soup with verdures or try a homemade Sheep, Buffalo or goat cheese. Transportation in this country is reasonable. If you are looking for accommodations, you can stay in a nice hotel or at a Romanian farm. Often locals will rent out rooms with food included. These accommodations are called Bed and Breakfast Farmstays. One visit to Romania and you will see why life is different, but great in this country.
