Lifestyle Simplicity Lives Amongst The Romanian People

September 12, 2011

The lifestyle simplicity of the Romanian culture can be viewed by looking at their traditional and modern cuisine. In Western society, our protein staple is based on the meat of chicken and beef. In Romania, pork is the king of meats.
Pork is not just served every day in a standard roast, however. The Romanian land has a history of being occupied by Turks, Hungarians, Austrians, Poles, and Russians. As you can imagine, the broad cultural influence does wonders for the cuisine and for the palate!

Back to the root of the culture, and the food: simplicity. The cooking takes place in rustic oven ware, such as clay pots and cast iron pots and pans. This cookware not only enriches the mineral content of food, but it gives it a unique flavor. The staples of the people are pork, vegetables, and beans. These staples all remain pure from genetic modification, making the harvesting and growing less productive at times, but it keeps the food tasting simple, the culture hard working, and the land and people healthy and strong.

If you are visiting Romania, many homes make an attempt to serve their guests modern cuisine. In the best interest of your body and palate, ask for traditional fare to be served!
